ASPIRE

Aspire is a project focused on giving our young people volunteering and leadership opportunities. It allows them to enhance many skills such as planning, organising, public speaking, leadership and creativity. It helps young people boost their confidence and self-esteem by engaging them in many projects, activities and social actions. Once a year our Aspire volunteers are presented with certificates of achievement during the Celebration event where they are recognized for the amount of volunteering hours they completed with Oasis.

OASIS TALKS

Oasis Talks provides a platform for our young people to have their voice heard. It offers an opportunity to talk about issues important to our young people and to raise awareness of those issues. Furthermore, it enables an opportunity to receive full media training and the use of state of the art equipment. Members can bring guest speakers who can also share their opinions and experiences on these important issues.

PORTADOWN GETS ACTIVE

Portadown Gets Active is a programme dedicated to supporting our local community. PGA provides nutritious meals and fun learning through a wide range of activities. This project not only provides a healthy breakfast, snack and lunch, but also gives children the opportunity to take part in various indoor and outdoor activities focused on health, wellbeing and nutrition. Furthermore, it also gives our volunteer members experience in planning events and improving their team work skills. Members share their ideas to plan areas such as what theme would be best, what activities could they deliver and what is current and relevant for children at present. By taking part in this experience you will be benefitting the local community whilst making memories and friendships.

RISE PROJECT - Wednesday  Thursday

width-1024.png

This 10-week Oasis Youth programme supports children and young people aged 5–18 to build resilience, improve their health and wellbeing, and develop key life and transferable skills.

Participants join age-appropriate groups to ensure the sessions meet their developmental needs:

  • P1–P4: play-based activities that nurture confidence, friendships, and basic life skills.

  • P5–P7: the same core themes explored through more structured activities and discussions.

  • 12–18s: deeper exploration of resilience, wellbeing, and practical skills for everyday life.

A Youth Steering Group of six young people aged 12–16 helps plan and co-deliver the sessions, ensuring authentic youth leadership. They are supported by a wider Youth Council of nine members, who meet regularly with the steering group to provide feedback and shape programme improvements.

Through this collaborative, youth-led approach, the programme empowers participants of all ages to thrive both within our programme and bring young people into wider youth provisions.
